Afternoon at The Peak, Davao City

Thursday, February 9, 2012

During my visit in Davao City last weekend, I got to check out The Peak that sits on top of Gaisano Mall in Bajada — thanks to my friend who told me about the place last December. My visit was short (spent less than an hour) and I never got to try out the restaurants since I had to meet some of my friends at Abreeza Mall. Even so, I found the place to be good and definitely worth a second visit some time in the future.

The Peak is a new alfresco area in the mall that opened just recently, which is quite similar to Ayala Cebu's Terraces and Abreeza's version of it. A few restaurants are already open (see list below) to suite everybody's taste buds and I'm already planning to treat my parents in any of those. The place is also perfect to catch a good view of Davao City in daytime and it is most certainly at its best during nighttime when Davao City lights up and the fountain area illuminates and changes into different colors. You can check this blog to see how it looks during nighttime.

Swimming with Oslob's Whale Sharks

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

You may have already heard by now about the new buzz going around in social networking sites and in some travel blogs. The once sleepy town of Oslob located just south of Cebu City is now starting to attract thousands of local and international tourists — myself included.

Commonly found in Donsol, Sorsogon, the gentle giants of the sea seem to have found a new home in Oslob, providing the locals additional livelihood and eco-tourism for the barangay and the municipality. The butanding (Tagalog term) or tuki (local term) started to appear late last year after a fisherman apparently spotted a group of whale sharks swimming in the area. Since then, swimming with the whale sharks at Oslob spread like wildfire.

This guide aims to help you plan your trip — from the budget rundown to the different activities in the area.
