In the recent Asia Backpacking Index research by priceoftravel.com, Hanoi ranks 2nd in the cheapest cities around Asia, which is why Vietnam is no stranger for those who want to cheaply backpack through this region. And who can blame them?! It's a paradise for those who want to go on beaches, temples, and anything they fancy.

A month after my trip to Cambodia, the temples of Angkor still bring both awe and curiousity to me. Maybe it's the mysticism or the grandeur of a centuries-old kingdom built by a long-lost civilization; Angkor will always be one of my favorite spots in Southeast Asia. My room mate in a 6-bed hostel room in Siem Reap was having sex with someone but I was too tired to care about the free show. Besides, they were all covered in a blanket so I really can't see anything. I could have let my imagination run wild but I had to wake up early the next day to go to the last few temples left in my bucket list.

There are a lot of reasons that Cebuanos have to be thankful for. Among those, Cebu suffered only minimal damage from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the neighboring island of Bohol last October 2013. A month after, Yolanda, the super typhoon that devastated the island of Leyte, missed Cebu by just a hair's breadth away.
